The Role

As the Analyst, Retirement Pricing, you will consult/analyze and deliver on financial assignments/projects for assigned area(s) of responsibility. You will also act as a resource to applicable internal/external stakeholders. You will provide more insightful pricing support to drive profitable sales and retention for assigned product suite(s) and partner with key business areas to support standard and special pricing activities for new and existing business. The product suite spans a range of defined contributions products serving the 401(k), 403(b), and 457 markets.

Responsibilities

Technical Agility

  • Provides more complex pricing support to drive profitable growth of new business by working closely with key internal stakeholders and internal/external sales teams and/or their leaders

  • Manage the daily flow of custom pricing cases, working with Product and Sales to deliver financially disciplined competitive quotes

  • Develops and maintains relevant databases of statistical data to evaluate characteristics of pricing activities and test scenarios for proposed changes in pricing strategies

  • Provides more complex reporting and modeling of financial metrics, new business sales, and quality of new business sales

  • Consults with key internal stakeholders to provide education and clarification of pricing concepts and applications

  • Manages and maintains automated tools and templates (e.g. ARC, IWS Director Pricing Template, etc.) for streamlining the pricing and proposal processes

  • Prepares special/custom pricing requests by partnering with appropriate internal contributors

  • Serves as a resource for new business initiatives by providing pricing insight and technical knowledge

  • Prepares and performs financial analyses as needed for pricing recommendations, new business initiatives, and reporting

  • Maintains files of relevant assumptions, communications, pricing models, and quotes for reference, reporting, and analysis

  • Recommends and drives improvements of excel-based pricing models

Requirements

Education

  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's), Mathematics or Finance degree preferred

Experience

  • 3 - 5+ Years of experience in retirement pricing or related experience within the financial services industry that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities of this position

  • Some actuarial experience is preferred

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Strong project management skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret both internal and external documents such as general media/publications, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, policies, proposals, and standard operating procedures

  • Confident, comfortable communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Apply concepts such as probability, statistics, modeling, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions

  • Works with mathematical concepts such as averages and/or variances

  • Ability to analyze information and to evaluate the implications of a course of action or solution

  • Ability to interpret and apply common sense understanding to carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

  • Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
