Our team of transportation experts perform traffic planning, traffic design, analysis, ITS design and complex modeling solutions.

We are hiring an experienced Traffic subject matter export, to lead our New England practice for that discipline area. In this role, you will be expected to execute traffic related projects, assist BD in identifying new opportunities for Traffic projects, and execute as a lead, traffic projects for our New England area for our Civil/Structures division. There will be some travel involved, when supporting other Parsons offices. We are looking for a subject matter expert in traffic and related projects,who is ready to take the lead on projects, and be a liaison for this discipline for our variousteams in CT, MA, NY and DC/MD.

You will work on diverse projects that could include the following:

Leading a team of engineers performing Traffic design, and varioustransportation planning functions, which could include road geometrics, signage, traffic signaling, crosswalks, and road surface marking/striping plan preparation, construction control planning.

Execute/oversee Transportation planning and Traffic projects, and studies, like traffic mpact studies,which could include field investigations, data compilation, technical reports and cost estimates and provide recommendations on traffic improvements

Develops the scope of engineering work, schedules, and budgets for the assigned project elements, and monitors progress to meet schedule and budget requirements. Identifies and documents changes in scope.

Determines the scope of procurement work, schedules, and budgets for technical aspects of the contract and monitors progress. Interfaces with Procurement and Subcontracts to facilitate procurement coordination with vendors/subcontractors. Participates in bid analysis to help determine supplier availability and capability.

Reviews work produced to ensure that applicable codes, standards, and procedures are followed and that quality is acceptable. Monitors productivity and technical proficiency of assigned technical personnel, and makes reassignments as project needs arise. Conducts performance evaluations, takes corrective action as necessary, and recommends salary actions. Also provides training and development opportunities for assigned personnel.

Coordinates the utilization of interdisciplinary technical personnel on the project, as well as the assignment of personnel from other technical support groups within the company.

Assists the Project Manager in planning, directing, supervising, and controlling the execution of technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of the project or study. Participates in determining the technical skills and staff hours required for successful completion of the project.

Design of intelligent Transportation systems


  • 4-year degree in Engineering (or related field) and 15+ years of related transportation/trafficengineering experience, a broad general engineering background, and previous supervisory experience in a project engineering role is required. Professional registration is required.

  • Proven ability to perform in a technical leadership/supervisory capacity, excellent written and oral communications skills, and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are required. Must also possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and be able to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on project.

  • Must have experience performing Traffic designs for roadways, including signage and signals

  • Experience with Synchro, VISSIM and HCS or similar modeling/simulation tools required

  • Experience with Traffic Impact Studies, and Traffic Analysis and simulation required

  • Experience with AutoCAD and Microstation required
