POSITION: Cook

DEPARTMENT: Food & Beverage

REPORTS TO: Executive Chef

Summary

SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for the Cook for SMG/Rhode Island Convention Center. Responsible for assisting in kitchen duties fall under the Executive Chef/Sous Chef. Position is generally focused on food production/cooking/and plating all meals. Ensures all food production is prepared as prescribed by the quality standards established by the Executive Chef/Sous Chef and the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Production -- The taking of raw product, utilizing the available equipment to its finished state as required by the parameters of the exact menu. Keeping production schedules created by the Executive Chef/Sous Chef. Verify and maintain all portion control, quality standards, and follow all procedural methods. Secondary responsibilities include sanitation, nutrition and safety concerns threw out the facility.

Qualifications

Four years with primary cooking responsibilities in a reputable high paced establishment. The ability to understand menu, recipe interpretation, solid working knowledge of all kitchen equipment including break down and cleaning. Must be highly motivated with positive attitude and personality.

Education and/or Experience

Formal education in culinary arts such as a two year degree is preferred. Food service sanitation certificates a must. Extracurricular affiliation such as the ACF is helpful.

Skills and Abilities

Position requires proficient knife skills, working meat cutting knowledge and great communication skills in the primary language (jargon) of the kitchen
