Position Description:

Performs all aspects of human resources including recruiting, selection, career development, performance management, compensation, and employee relations. This position will split time between the SCP, Inc facility in Westerly, RI and the Aegis, Inc. facility in New Bedford, MA. This position also has responsibility for the Plant Health and Safety program at the SCP facility in Westerly, RI.

•Coaches managers in performance management including addressing performance issues, rewarding superior performance, and communicating performance expectations to employees, develops succession plans, and employee development.

•Reviews production efficiencies and looks for ways to improve.

•Ensures policies and procedures are followed and reinforced amongst the employees.

•Handles open enrollment and assists employees with questions or issues.

•Leads the Health & Safety program assessing needs and assisting safety committee to prioritize compliance and regulatory issues in an organized manner.

•Works with managers to plan and implement change with a focus on ensuring effective employee communications.

•Coordinates and ensures all training is documented.

•Handles the bi-weekly payroll at Aegis ensuring all hours are accurately reflected in time management system.

•Maintains all the electronic records ensuring all employment data is precise.

•Participates in compensation, personnel policy and procedure surveys, ensuring that the compensation program aligns with company goals.

•Administers Workers Compensation Program including maintaining required records and reports and transitional work programs (as needed).

•Conducts recruitment efforts; works with supervisors to screen and interview candidates; conducts reference checks; extends job offers; employee relations counseling; conducts exit interviews.

•Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws.

•Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.

•Takes a leadership role in planning and implementation of special events such as company grill outs and celebrations.

•Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

•Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

•PHR or SPHR certification; or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred.

•Working knowledge of HR administrative requirements pertaining to OSHA, FMLA, COBRA, STD, AAP, EEO, ADA, Unemployment, and Workers' Compensation

•Strong written & oral communication skills

•Must have high initiative, integrity, strong work ethic, and analytical skills

•Excellent time management, organizational skills and enjoy working in a fast paced environment

The HR Generalist must be willing to spend split their time between working out of New Bedford, MA and Westerly, RI.
